What is the importance of proper dental hygiene in animals?

The lack of regular care leads to a deterioration in the health of teeth and gums due to the appearance of plaque and tartar, whose signal more evident is bad breath.

What is plaque and tartar?

Plaque is a biofilm originated from food waste and metabolites of bacteria, which accumulates in the teeth. If plaque is not removed regularly, mineralizes by the minerals contained in saliva and is formed tartar.

Tartar causes inflammation and undermines the gums and damage teeth causing periodontal disease. In the latter case, it causes loss of the tooth.

Bad breath is often the first sign of plaque formation and subsequent evolution to periodontal disease. Although feed is a cause to consider if bad breath persists after a change in diet, inflammation of the gums should be considered if it persists. Thus, it is important to raise the lips often to check the status of the animal's teeth. The plaque and tartar build up especially in the back molars and canines.
Inflammation is at an advanced stage when the gum line becomes red and bleeds to the touch and is highly recommended to veterinarian consultation.

How can you check if your pet has teeth problems?

Bad breath is often the first sign. But may also be due to food. If after a change in diet, bad breath persists, the cause is often an inflammation of the gums.
Check your pet's teeth regularly, raising his lips gently. Plaque and tartar accumulated are observed more in the molar and canine teeth. If the gum line is red and bleeding at the touch, then it is because the inflammation is already at an advanced stage and it is recommended you go to the vet with your pet.

How can you protect your pet against dental problems?

Chewing helps to remove plaque. But that alone is not enough! You can only clean teeth
thoroughly and efficiently using a toothbrush or finger. Because, as with humans, the daily cleaning of teeth is the basis of a proper oral hygiene.

What to consider in daily teeth cleaning?

TARTAR REMOVER |

Remove tartar effectively without hurting the gums and teeth

TARTAR REMOVER | Remove tartar effectively without hurting the gums and teeth

If plaque is not regularly removed through daily cleaning of the teeth, it forms hard tartar, particularly around the canines and the molars. This can cause permanent damage to the gums and the periodontium. Tartar should thus be removed as early as possible and on a regular basis. For this purpose, Bogar has developed the unique bogadent® TARTAR REMOVER in collaboration with veterinary surgeons and specialists. The particularly hard plastic removes tartar very effectively, yet is still gentle on the teeth.

Goal: Remove tartar effectively without hurting the gums and teeth

Features:

  • Hygienic, special robust material
  • 2 different instruments made of sepcial hard plastic (no metal) for effectively and gently removing tartar
  • Ideal to remove tartar in the area of the canine and molar teeth, interdental spaces and tooth furrows
  • Developed by veterinarians and specialists
  • Patent pending

Application: Get your dog accustomed to effective dental and oral hygiene carefully as early as possible through play. Place the longer instument with the flat, bevelled end on the upper edge of the tartar and pull it downwards with a quick but careful movement (away from the gums); repeat until the tartar has been entirely removed. With the pointed instrument, you can remove the tartar from the interdental spaces and in the furrows of the teeth. Because of its greater curvature, the flat end of this instrument is ideally suited for the inner areas of the tooth.

How can you protect your pet against dental problems?

thoroughly and efficiently using a toothbrush or finger. Because, as with humans, the daily cleaning of teeth is the basis of a proper oral hygiene.

You should start cleaning their teeth early, addressing through play and smoothly so that your pet gets used. Dental hygiene should become a daily ritual, which is fun for your pet and for which it is rewarded, for example, with a lot of fun or making a walk.
